The Vagenda

If you are a human being capable of coherent thought then you need to be reading The Vagenda.
As a budding feminist and lover of shitty magazines this is basically a blog tailor made for me. Ever find yourself reading Grazia and finding the features a little jarring? Does Vogue piss you off but you buy it anyway? Yeah, you're like me. Read this blog.
It doesn't only discuss magazines but also issues such as strip clubs, politics, film releases and general lifestyle. It picks apart the lifestyle women are expected to have by the media and basically says 'nope, fuck you' , therefore I love it.

There are so many things about women's lifestyle magazines that really really make me angry. The fetishization of high heel shoes being one of them - no, you don't have to suffer that pain ladies, you are just made to feel like you do.
I love this blog simply because it takes things which appear in our lives almost daily and basically brings to the fore what's wrong with them. Most people would simply look at a beauty ad and go 'well yes, it is normal for a woman to be a size 8, have perfect porcelain skin and also put expensive creams on it daily' but this blog will go 'actually, this model is ridiculously thin; she has been photoshopped to within an inch of her life and, ladies, your skin will probably do ok if you don't spend £60 on facial creams,  but if you want to try it then go ahead.

An article published on the website recently gained attention, the author even appeared on This Morning. Journalist Emer O'Toole wrote a brave piece on her decision to stop removing her body hair which garnered attention from all sources of the media. The piece was fun, honest but not defensive.
The aim of the Vagenda doesn't appear to be man-hating but rather a discussion of issues facing society today. There are, on times, a few angry words but I think they are really quite necessary, especially when discussing things such as 'Piranha 3DD' - there is no way to be anything less than rude about that film.

I don't really think I'm qualified to try and explain how brilliant this blog is. You just need to go there yourself and have a quick browse and I can pretty much guarantee that, unless you are anti-feminist in which case get off my blog, you will love it.
